How to Build Bridges and Collaborate
Using his experience of university and business life, Tom will explain how collaboration and partnerships can work for your business, and businesses of all shapes & sizes.
Between 2006 and March 2016, Tom was MD then CEO of Isis Innovation Ltd (recently renamed ‘Oxford University Innovation’). He is now an independent consultant with his business Technology Transfer Innovation.
Whilst at Isis Innovation, Tom led its expansion to become one of the world’s leading university technology transfer & commercialisation organisations. This growth included: · Over 100 new spin-out companies formed, with 100’s more new ideas patented and licensed all over the world
· Millions of pounds of investment raised for the spin-outs, by connecting them with investor angels and venture capitalists. One spin-out company recently sold for over $500million
· The creation of Isis Enterprise, a global enterprise consultancy which was awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2015
· The Isis team grow from 35 to over 100 staff
· International expansion, establishing offices in Hong Kong, Madrid and Kyoto, and a number of joint ventures in China
As you’d expect, all of this good work and communication between the University & business/industry contributed greatly to the impact of the University all around the world.
